Travel Alternatives to PDX

There’s more than one way to get to Portland International Airport. Travelers and airport employees who prefer to ditch their car and go by bike can take the multi-use pathway that connects PDX to the Marine Drive bike path. It also interconnects with the I-205 multi-use path and points beyond.

Upon arrival at PDX, visitors can take advantage of many bike racks or the bike assembly station, which is helpful both for quick repairs and travelers flying with their bikes. PDX was one of the first airports in the U.S. to offer bicycle and pedestrian access to its terminal building and, in 2003, was the first commercial airport to develop a Bike and Pedestrian Master Plan.

PDX has been served by TriMet MAX light rail since 2001. The MAX Red Line can get to downtown Portland from PDX in just under 40 minutes. Convenient hooks allow bicycles to be taken aboard the MAX.
