Value-added Terminal Services

Portland is an operating port that performs hands-on management of container operations. Stevedoring and terminal management are controlled by the Port, resulting in its direct involvement with the following services and facilities:

  • Expedited vessel discharge and container delivery
  • Fast terminal gate turn times relative to other West Coast ports
  • On-dock intermodal yard served by Burlington Northern Santa Fe and Union Pacific
  • Extended loaded container storage (delay-in-transit)
  • Foreign Trade Zone status
  • On-site customs
