Roadway Expansion Underway at Airport Terminal

Workers will be adding an additional traffic lane to the “arrivals” roadway approaching the Portland International Airport terminal building. The new, approximately 500-foot lane is being constructed along the north side of the garage building. Work will continue through mid-May.

Workers will maintain two traffic lanes during construction, except at slow traffic times.

The expansion will allow development of a dedicated bus and taxi lane to expedite commercial transportation. Commercial vehicles currently mix with other vehicles near the terminal, causing delays at busy traffic times.

During construction, motorists are encouraged to drive cautiously, adhere to posted speed limits, and watch for flaggers and directional signs. Motorcyclists should exercise extra caution because of a rough roadway surface at times. Please continue to monitor our Web site for the latest information on construction and travel impacts.
