The Port of Portland has kicked off an environmental assessment effort for the proposed parallel runway project at Hillsboro Airport. A consultant team lead by CH2M HILL was awarded the contract for the environmental assessment in late May 2008. An open house was held in mid-September for the public to learn more about the project and provide comments to the Port and the consultant team. More than 50 members of the public attended and provided feedback.

The project team is currently focusing on analyzing the alternatives and establishing the existing environmental conditions around the site. Public input will continue to be solicited through the Web site, at Hillsboro Airport Issues Roundtable meetings, and other Hillsboro Airport events. Please watch our calendar of events on the Hillsboro Airport page for upcoming meetings.

The draft environmental assessment is anticipated to be completed in summer 2009, at which time the public will have an opportunity to comment.
