Current Status
The projected completion date for the Mulino Master Plan is January 2008.

The Port of Portland, the Oregon Department of Aviation, airport tenants, and the local community are working together to update the 1993 Mulino Airport Layout Plan.

The 14-year-old Airport Layout Plan Update for Mulino will be replaced with an Airport Master Plan that will guide airport development over the next 20 years. The plan will address airport capacity (airfield, air space, ramp, hangars and other buildings), new facilities, current projections of airport activity, new environmental and other regulatory constraints, plans for an appropriate mix of land uses to support projected aviation and non-aviation needs, and the long-term financial health of the airport.

The Master Plan will be useful as the airport transitions from Port ownership to management and potential future ownership by the State of Oregon. At the January 2007 Port Commission meeting, commissioners approved a management transfer agreement for Mulino Airport with the Oregon Department of Aviation (ODA), that took effect on Feb. 1. Commission approval also includes the potential transfer of airport ownership to ODA, if certain financial targets are met.

Master plans are a collaborative effort among all stakeholders. The Port works with a Project Advisory Committee made up of local citizens, airport tenants and users, and one representative each from the Clackamas County Planning Department and the Oregon Department of Aviation. Project Advisory Committee meetings are open to the public and frequently followed by open houses to help interested community members participate in discussions about the future of the airport.

Below, draft alternatives for Mulino Airport’s future are available, and we encourage comments, suggestions, and ideas that can help shape the plan.

The final Planning Advisory Committee meeting will be held once the FAA has approved the Final Airport Master Plan Report and Airport Layout Plan. This should occur no later than Jan. 2008.

The projected completion date for the Mulino Master Plan is January 2008.
