Portland International Airport (PDX) is proud to connect people to cities and countries across the continent and around the world.
As climate change becomes one of our most pressing environmental issues, travelers at PDX are asking for information about how they can travel responsibly. The following resources are provided to help you learn more about carbon offset programs. We encourage you to investigate the environmental value and effectiveness of projects funded through carbon offsets. The Port does not endorse any specific carbon offset program.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change estimates that the aviation industry is responsible for two to three percent of worldwide greenhouse gas emissions. While emissions from the Port’s aviation and marine operations are relatively small, we are part of a global web of activities that affect air quality and greenhouse gases. We believe that it is our responsibility to reduce emissions from Port-controlled sources and work with others to pursue affirmative steps that reduce emissions from all transportation sources.
